Dr Muzibunnisa Begam has 20 years of experience in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology with special interest in Fetal Medicine, 12 of which were at Tawam Hospital, Al Ain. She joined KidsHeart Medical Center in 2023.

Clinical Expertise:

Ultrasound:

  • Level 3 advanced obstetric ultrasound.
  • 3D-4D ultrasound scans.
  • First trimester markers such as nuchal translucency, nasal bone, tricuspid regurgitation, ductus venosus Doppler.
  • Fetal echocardiography utilizing B-mode, M-mode, pulsed wave and color Doppler.
  • Fetal neurosonography.
  • Various forms of prenatal Doppler including but not limited to Umbilical artery, middle vertebral artery, ductus venosus, umbilical vein.
  • Fetal Biophysical profile.

Other modalities:

  • Pediatric stress testing.
  • Non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT), first and second trimester assessment for aneuploidies (organized through a hospital).
  • Fetal MRI (organized through a hospital).

Counseling:

  • Multidisciplinary counselling by perinatologist and other pediatric specialties as required.
  • Periconceptional counselling.
  • Prenatal genetic counselling for genetic diseases.

Invasive procedures:

  • Diagnostic procedures: Amniocentesis, Chorionic villus sampling, Cordocentesis, and Amnioinfusion.
  • Therapeutic fetal interventions: Amniodrainage, Cephalocentesis, Vesicocentesis, and Pleurocentesis.

In addition to diagnosis and management of fetal structural abnormalities and chromosomal/genetic conditions, management of high-risk pregnancies complicated by complex pre-existing maternal disorders and severe pregnancy complications will be undertaken.

Intrapartum care will be provided for such high-risk pregnancies in collaboration with existing tertiary hospitals.
