Liya mol Thankachan is a DOH Licensed Speech Therapist in Abu Dhabi at Kids Heart Medical Center. She chooses to become an audiologist & Speech language pathologist because she was intrigued by the combination of science, working with people and helping them. So continuously enhance my knowledge, skills, and experience by getting involved in challenging working environment.

Clinical experience:

  • Liya mol Thankachan has dealt with various speech language and hearing disorders in patients of al ages, as a part of clinical practical, during course of BASLP.

Special interest:

  • Speech language pathology, therapeutics, Swallowing & feeding.

Diagnosis and management:

  • Assessment of various speech language disorders for nature and severity, in patients of all ages.
  • Administration of various speech-language tests, both subjective and objective including use of analog, digital and computer-based instruments. The use of speech science equipment for assessment and management of speech disorders including Computerized Speech Lab (CSL), Multi-dimensional speech profile (MDVP), VAGMI, Dr SPEECH, Vocal tool Assessment of communication skills and alternative augmentative communication (AAC).
  • Assessment and management of Speech-language disorders (adult as well as children ) voice, articulation, fluency and other speech and language disorders (delayed speech and language with –or without hearing loss, mental retardation , cerebral palsy , autism , stuttering , cluttering , cleft palate , misarticulation ,phonogical disorders, aphasia , attention deficit hyperactive disorders, apraxia , laryngectomy , specific learning disability(dyslexia) , dysarthria , parkinsonism , west syndrome , Curzon’s syndrome , Rett’s syndrome , voice problems etc..
  • Dysphagia Assessment and Treatment, Report writing referrals and record keeping for patients with reference to speech-language impairments.
  • Counselling patients and their families regarding nature, cause and management of their speech language problem.
